Væ Victis

Terms of service

Effective . The rules for playing Væ Victis.

The short version. The game is free and comes as it is. Play it, enjoy it, don't attack it or pass it off as yours. The account and cloud saves are optional.

1. Who and what

These terms are an agreement between you and Serifeus Studio ("we", "us") about the browser game Væ Victis, played at vaevictis.vip, and the pages around it (together, "the game"). By playing you accept them. If you don't, please don't play.

The game shows violence, blood and dark religious themes. It is meant for adults and older teens and is not directed at children under 13.

2. Free, and as it is

The game is free. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It is a game in progress: it may change, break, lose features or go offline, and saves may not carry over between versions. Your local save lives in your browser and can be lost if the browser's data is cleared.

3. Acceptable use

Please don't:

Playing, streaming, recording and sharing videos and screenshots of the game is welcome.

4. Your account and cloud saves (optional)

When cloud saves arrive you may choose to sign in with Google. Then:

5. Intellectual property

The game, its code, story, verse, music, voices, pictures and the name Væ Victis belong to Serifeus Studio. All rights are reserved except where a licence below says otherwise.

Some art is built from open-licence assets, used under their licences and credited on the credits page (for example Clint Bellanger's models under CC-BY 3.0, Kay Lousberg's KayKit packs under CC0, and public-domain seals). Those licences keep applying to those assets, and nothing in these terms limits them.

If you believe something in the game infringes your rights, write to us and we will look at it promptly.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Serifeus Studio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost saves, arising from the game or from not being able to use it. Because the game is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for it (nothing), or the lowest amount the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

7. Termination

You can stop playing and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account, or block access, if these terms are broken, and we may end the game or any feature of it at any time. If we close cloud saves, we will try to give signed-in players notice and a way to keep their progress.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The new version is posted here with a new effective date. If a change matters for signed-in players, we will tell them in the game or by email before it takes effect. Playing after a change means you accept it.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, and disputes go to the competent courts of Mexico. This does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer and data protection laws of the country where you live: players in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, for example, keep every right those laws give them (including under the GDPR and the CCPA), and may bring a claim where the law allows.
